Harbhajan will most likely get off easily, even if he is guilty.

Srinivasan told to 'stay away' from inquiry

IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla has said that the decisions of the three-man commission looking into corruption complaints in the league must be directly implemented, and not presented before the general body of the BCCI. Shukla told reporters in Delhi, after a meeting with BCCI vice president and disciplinary committee member Arun Jaitley, that it was important the investigation was "independent and that the persons responsible, no matter how they big they may be, are severely punished."

A "suggestion" was made to BCCI president Srinivasan, by Jaitley and Shukla, that he "stay away" until the completion of the inquiry, but they did not specifically turn that into an instruction that he stand down from his position. "He is an elected president and he says he has done nothing. That is his view," Shukla said. "We would want that he stay away during the investigation procedure and have suggested to him that he do so. The image of the BCCI and of Indian cricket has been very badly affected by these events."

The commission had originally meant to comprise two members of the IPL governing council and an independent member, but Shukla said it had been altered to assert its independence by including two judges and a single member from the BCCI, in this case the board secretary Sanjay Jagdale.

The commission's remit was widened to look into India Cements, the owners of Chennai Super Kings, apart from Gurunath Meiyappan, the Super Kings official arrested on charges of betting, and Jaipur IPL Pvt Ltd, the owners of Rajasthan Royals, three of whose players - Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan - were arrested on allegations of spot-fixing.

Where are the IPL apologists who were claming the IPL is 100% clean and free of corruption?

    Speak up.

cricket betting is a big business in indian black market and its rightfully illegal in india but is the government and NGO's doing anything to eradicate betting from the indian society?

I bet nothing is happening expect for it being illegal.

High courts in India have sent bigger people than Srini to jails.Higher judiciary in India is very strong and very unbiased. And this interpretation was given long back.

All high courts are equal.SC has not given any interpretation but 80-90% of times high court interpretations stick.

Sometimes another High Court interpret something in their each own way.

If its like what you mentioned, then the Mumbai Police should be stopped and not continue their investigation against everyone who has been charged with betting offences.

Thats not how law works in India. They can investigate and then file the chargesheet. That will contain the sections the accused are charged with.It may contain other sections than the Gambling act as well.

Like sec 420 or MCOCA etc.

Its another issue if the charges will stick or not.

Lol.How can Srini pick them? You nuts? Two retired judges head BCCIs commision.

Mumbai and Delhi police will file their cases in front of courts not some retired judges.

And retired judges in India have in past nailed big politicians and corporates. So Srini is no big deal.
