Disappointed is not the word. Won the toss and chose to bat. No demons in the pitch but we still somehow get in to a position of being 18/3 and making it hard for ourselves. Fawad Alam played to the situation superbly in my eyes but I know there are a few that think the opposite. I agree when you are not hitting boundaries then look for the singles but you need wickets in hand to put your foot down at the end. Misbah once again with the runs and a great knock from Umar helped us reach 260 which was still a little short of where we wanted to be.
It seems that even 360 would have been chased down with ease the way we bowled today. All 3 seamers were shocking! Toothless, harmless, no trouble to the batsmen at all! Apart from Ajmal (what else do we expect from him) this was a really bad effort. Doesn't help when your dropping your chances, no matter how tough the chances are. As for the umpires, another poor game for them.
I will end this by congratulating the Lankans, the better team won on the day!

Also, really poor bowling by Talha. One good game and then Wahab mode was turned on. Gul is not fit, should not have been played either.

    Umar Gul
    Junaid Khan
    Mohammed Talha
    Abdur Rehman
    Anwar Ali

All of them need to be dropped from the one day team. We also need a regular keeper, Akmal is not good behind the stumps.

Talha is very, very poor. He over relies on the short pitched delivery, which works fine against India, who are renowned to not handle that length well, but it won't work against most other teams. He also seemed to lack a backup plan and didn't try anything else.

Gul once again failed to justify his tag as the most experienced fast bowler and Junaid needs to find more consistency with his bowling, as he simply looks innocuous more often than not.

Congrats to Lankans for winning the cup. They deserved it.

Our pace bowling let us down big time and that was crucial. 260 was not that bad a score but our bowling was pathetic minus ajmal.

Only Saeed Ajmal and Umar Akmal did well, all other were poor. Fawad's 2nd fifty was good too.

Best team, not just today but through out the tournament, won. What more is there to say.
P.s. Gul and Sharjeel should be dropped for good. Both are poor in their respective fields and are poor fielders too

Well played to SL. Pakistan seems to be falling behind on the pace attack, Irfan is sorely being missed. We have rediscovered Fawad though, and that's a huge plus - hope PCB sees this.

Thank you Cricistan for providing the good stream :D

We were at least 30 runs short on the pitch.

Our bowling is Terrible, with pacers needing a good pitch to perform. Umer Gul should never be given a new ball. Irfan is a must for our bowling attack and we need an out-an-out Fast bowler which we can rely on for shorter spells and get breakthroughs. I know you cann't get Shoaib Akhtars everyday, but we need to keep that target in mind while selecting new bolwers as well.

No blame on Misbah and the top order?

Removing his knock, that is 114 off 134 balls, Pakistan got 146 off 166 balls, a Strike Rate of 88

So not like the others did much better.

First of all, congratulations Sri Lanka. Well deserved champions. Have not lost a single game all through the tournament. The run chase too was pretty comfortable in the end. Facile win for Sri Lanka.

To offer a neutral perspective, I think the first big setback obviously was the 18/3 at the very beginning. I mean in a big game, the final --on a pretty placid track 18/3 is absolutely inexcusable. From then on really Pakistan was playing catch up as far as batting was concerned.

Misbah Ul Haq and Fawad Alam did really well to rebuild the innings from such a shambolic start. But I did feel that perhaps they could have just pushed the momentum a little bit once they forged a 50 run partnership. Umar Akmal provided a rollicking finish along with Fawad Alam whose second fifty came in no time.

In general it is considered that in a tournament final or in a knock out game--a total of 260 batting first is always considered a very very good score. Mainly because of the pressure of chasing a total of above 250 in a big game final. But Sri Lanka never looked under any pressure. Perera unleashed himself in the initial overs and since then Sri Lanka was never ever behind the run rate. Mahela joined Thirimanne at a sensitive stage but their more than 150 run partnership at a brisk rate sealed the game for Sri Lanka.

It turned out to be a pretty easy chase. Even 300 looked like it would have been chased easily. The usually efficient Pakistan bowling was pretty mediocre all around bar Saeed Ajmal.

I know Afridi is a special player but I was shocked to see him so unfit for this game. These are international games and importantly a tournament final--you want all the 11 players to be fit. Gul also did not look 100% fit.

Overall this pitch was not a 260 pitch. The 18/3 essentially sealed the fate of Pakistan despite the last hurrah by Umar Akmal.

Credit to Pakistan in reaching the finals. They played well for the most part but the better side won the finals.

    Congrats Sri Lanka, commiserations Pakistan.

Fawad and Misbah did very well. When a side is 18/3 do you expect them to come in blazing sixes? The real culprits are our pace bowlers, fielding and some poor umpiring. Gul/Junaid/Talha looked pathetic, especially the latter two who look completely powder puff.

Poor fielding, poor form of umar gul, early wickets of the top 3 is the reason why we lost the game.
Good performance by Fawad, misbah, akmal, ajmal and probably afridi aswell. Could have been epic if we would have win this one aswell but i think this team entertained us very well in the last two games.

I think we should have never opened with Umar gul, dont know why he opened the bowling when junaid is a better bowler with the new ball now a days.
Congrats to srilanka they were the better team of the tourny but we were more entertaining :p

Lately Pakistan bowling is overrated and below par.

Now we can't even defend 250+.

    Junaid,Gul,Talha,Ali,Bilwal are all crap.

Irfan is the most needed bowler in the side currently,

    Spin duo is currently good.

Batting wise, Top order a failure, Sharjeel is a hack, I told you before. He cant feild nor bat. Hafeez did well this series. Maqsood is not an international player. Sharjeel and Maqsood are most likely going to be dropped for the next series.

At least we won against India :p

Good rebuilding after being 18/3 but they took too long to get going, and Afridi couldn't even get to bat. Even 20 more runs from Pakistan could have made the difference.

But the main reason of loss is bad bowling, in particular Gul and Talha, but we also can't forget that Sri Lanka were just too good and they deserved to win the cup.

Regardless, I think Pakistan played well in the cup and there are a lot of positives to take out, especially Afridi's batting.

I thought Fawad should have been given a go with the ball...all the spinners did well and maybe the batsmen would have taken some unnecessary risks against him...who knows. It wouldn't hurt to give him 1-2 overs to see if he could at least stop the bleeding of runs.
