Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has given a positive response to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)'s proposal of hosting Test series in Pakistan.

Pakistan is slated to host two Test matches against Sri lanka in October this year, as part of the inaugural International Cricket Council (ICC) World Test Championship.

According to reports, PCB wants to stage these matches in Karachi and Lahore.

PCB officials are optimistic about finalising details regarding the series, after receiving a positive response from Sri Lanka Cricket officials.

ICC officials were satisfied with the security arrangements for the eight matches of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season four, that were recently held in Pakistan.

ICC has indicated that it will have no objection if both the boards decided to stage the series in Pakistan.

On the other hand, PCB is also currently in talks with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to play the series with Bangladesh in UAE as well as in Pakistan.

Pakistan is also slated to tour Australia in December this year, as part of the ICC Test Championship.

Nine teams will take part in the ICC World Test Championship, with two teams qualifying for the final which will take place in 2021.

These matches against srilanka zimbabwe etc only inflate our stats. No good in players developments.

We were whitewashed by Sri Lanka in Tests last time they played us. They just beat South Africa away aswell in a Test series.

Also its not about that. It's about bringing test cricket back to Pakistan, no matter who it is - this will be huge.

    One step at a time.

First we need to prove that we can provide adequate security to Asian teams, then teams like WI will come.

Teams like AUS & NZ will tour us in the end. So SL coming to Pakistan to play full series, including TEST is a step of the process.

The purpose is to bring cricket back to Pak which is very crucial.SL, is not such a poor team, they have been doing well recently, as for Zimb, you can play with them and develop player too by giving your "C team" a chance to play against them. This is what other boards do when their team play again st minnows.

It stopped while they were here last time... so fitting that the test cricket in the country resumes with Sri Lanka as visitors again

Not sure why there is such a desperate need to bring intl cricket back to Pakistan?

This is my personal opinion and many may not agree but I don’t fully trust Pak security arrangements.

Just recently there was a tragedy in Quetta.

We are talking about mostly local police with flashing police cars and what? Some army men and soldiers guarding the visiting team?

Seriously, these scenes dont seem to sit well with a sporting event.

What’s the point of all this?

Yes, it’s tough on our players and their families because the players are mostly abroad, but over all the team is doing OK in playing UAE as their home ground, which is really not too far from Pak. This is what, an hour and a half flight time?

And finally, cricket fan following in Pakistan is not as intense as it once used to be. We don’t have any international level icons and heroes left in the team.

Times have also changed - everyone is stuck to their smart devices which has become the primary source of news, information, fun and entertainment on the go.

We will probably have more crows in the densly fogged and air pollution filled grounds than the spectators during the Test matches.

Agreed and it will also send a good strong message since the team that faced the attack is coming here fully satisfied of the security then others should have excuse...
If the series happens then it will be huge... Finally we will see how bad we are at home in tests. :p :p :p

Then follow Aqib Javed's advice and stop playing test cricket, infact even stop playing OD and stick to 20/20.
Ask any former cricketer and he will tell you that one of the reason for the decline i s cricket is that int cricket is not being played in Pak.Also, UAE is the worst place to play test cricket, it is completely destroying our test team, do people seriously expect national icons in our team when our cricket is being played in UAE? UAE isn't even good enough for PSL, leave alone test cricket.

SriLanka is a decent team. Recently beat SA in SA 2-0. Big achievement considering the "great" Indian side lost to the same team.

They are developing very well. Also, in Asia the Lankans are even better. Pakistan definitely will improve playing them
