Sky sources understand Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal with Real Madrid to sign Alvaro Morata.

Manchester United had been in talks to sign Morata but refused to meet Real’s €80m (£70.6m) asking price.

They eventually signed Romelu Lukaku instead.

Chelsea were also interested in Lukaku and having missed out on the Belgium international they have turned their attention to alternate targets.

They made their decisive move for Morata today after being told that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sergio Aguero are not for sale.

Pep Guardiola still wants to make as many as four more summer signings, with the Manchester City manager confirming interest in Real Madrid right-back Danilo.

"We have many options for people, players coming, but until the deal is done out of respect for the other clubs I cannot say absolutely anything," the City boss said.

"But (Danilo) is one option we have.

"I said he's a player from Real Madrid, so we are talking with not too much players but three or four players to try, if possible, to join us for not only the next season but the next three, four, five years because all of them are so, so young players.”

Asked about Sergio Aguero, who has been linked with Chelsea, he replied: "You know my opinion about Sergio -- he is our player and he will remain here."

Bayern Munich want €48m for their Portuguese attacking midfielder Renato Sanches.

The Bavarian club’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said Sanches will have limited opportunities if he remains at the club next term, adding Bayern are open to letting the player go out on loan next season.

“He won’t get enough minutes at Bayern, so we’re willing to negotiate a loan deal and maybe beyond that,” Rummenigge said.

“I’m not the coach, but I think Renato needs regular football. I can confirm Milan’s interest, but talks didn’t progress last week.

“If a club are interested in a Bayern player, they must be ready to deal with significant economic figures and I don’t feel that Milan are ready to meet our demands.

“We’ll say that it wouldn’t be bad if a €48m offer came in for him”

Manchester United are monitoring Ross Barkley as they consider a late-window bid for the Everton midfielder, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 23-year-old has a price tag of around £50m, with United looking to build a big squad ahead of their return to the Champions League this season.

If his asking price and wage demands lower, United would reportedly make an offer for the England international.

The Sun claim Liverpool and Chelsea are joined in another transfer tussle by Arsenal, with the Premier League trio interested in Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller.

After an underwhelming 2016/17 campaign in front of goal, the Bundesliga champions' capture of James Rodriguez has plunged Muller's future at the Allianz Arena into doubt.

Serie A champions Juventus are also understood to be interested in the Germany international, who Bayern insist is not for sale.

Alvaro Morata, ahead of his move to Chelsea, has been speaking to SSN's Paul Gilmour on his arrival to Heathrow Airport earlier this morning...

Asked why he has joined Chelsea, the Real Madrid striker said: "Because it is the best club. Antonio Conte is one of the best coaches in the world and I'm so happy to work with him."

Asked how close he was to joining Man Utd, he said: "I don't know, the most important thing is I am here, and finally I am here. Just the medical and everything is OK. It's one of the best leagues in the world, and I'm so happy to be here.

Inter Milan appear to be maintaining their hard-line stance with Manchester United over Ivan Perisic.

Sky sources understand Perisic wants to move to Manchester United but they are refusing to pay the £48m asking price for the Croatian winger.

Inter have taken Perisic on their pre-season tour of China and Singapore and Inter manager Luciano Spalletti says he is going to play.

Spalletti said: “Perisic will play because he wasn’t involved in the friendly games in Brunico – he may even play more than the others.”

Kylian Mbappe is in demand this summer, but Monaco are not happy with the way clubs have been pursuing the striker.

They have released the following statement: "AS Monaco regretfully notice that "important" European football clubs made contact with Kylian Mbappe (and his entourage) without its authorisation.

"AS Monaco want to remind to these clubs that such actions are contrary to the article 211 of the Administrative regulation of the French Football League (Ligue de Football Professionnel) and to the article 18.3 of the Regulation of the Status and the Transfer of the Players of FIFA.

"To put an end to this unacceptable situation, AS Monaco consider asking the French Football League (Ligue de Football Professionnel) and FIFA to commit disciplinary procedures against clubs offenders."

    Potentially a big Neymar development...

La Liga have told Sky Sports News that they will NOT accept the payment from PSG to trigger Neymar’s release clause.

They are expecting PSG to visit their offices this afternoon.

A spokesman for the office of La Liga president Javier Tebas said:

"We will not accept the money for the liberation clause, the reason is that we have doubts that this money is in accordance with UEFA Financial Fair Play rules."

Neymar's buyout clause is believed to be €220m.

"The player Neymar Jr, accompanied by his father and agent, has informed FC Barcelona this morning of his decision to leave the Club in a meeting held at the Club’s offices.

"Faced with this position, the Club has informed them they refer to the buy-out clause of his existing contract which as of 1 July totals 222m euros which will have to be deposited in its entirety.

"Furthermore, in reply to the claim for the contract extension bonus, the Club has once again made it clear that the amount remains deposited with a notary until the case is resolved.

"The player remains under contract at FC Barcelona but with temporary permission to not take part in training sessions."

Officials at La Liga HQ have confirmed that they rejected an attempt to buy-out Neymar's release clause earlier today.

The Spanish league says that representatives of Neymar have tried unsuccessfully to pay the 222 million euro buyout clause that would release the Brazilian star from his contract with Barcelona and clear his signing for Paris Saint-Germain.

A league official told the Associated Press that the Spanish league refused to accept the payment and won't act as an intermediary for the player. Nonetheless, the league's refusal does not stop Neymar's exit from Barcelona as the money can be paid directly to the club.

The official said that Juan de Dios Crespo, a Spanish lawyer representing Neymar, arrived at the league offices Thursday, accompanied by three Brazilians, with the intention of depositing the buyout clause.

League president JavierTebas told Spanish sports daily AS on Wednesday that the league believes the transfer violates UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules.
