Who is the best?
Wonderful to watch these guys bat.All have +ves and -ves,but the most exciting of them all is definitely Root.Williamson is also very solid bat.On the other hand Kohli is already LOIs great and a very compact package.
Note: Young* batsmen
Joe Root. Makes batting look so effortless.
Root followed by Kohli.
Kane at number 3.
Perhaps I will never rate Steven Smith lol.
Humans like things pleasing on the eye. Smith is ugly but effective.
Root, Williamson, Smith and then Kohli last!!
I initially thought you were talking about Inzamam, Yousuf, Younus and Asim Kamal!!
To the moderator: Add "The" before fab in the title.Thanks.
Haha no.Its about current great young talent.
Could have been about Younus, Misbah, Azhar and Asad as well!!
But they are not young.
Azhar and Asad are as young as Root, Williamson, Smith and Kohli~!!
Finally a proper fan of cricket. Great thread and all four are top players.
.especially how they raised their game over the years.
Root is a fantastic bastman across all formats. Kohli is a beast in odis..smithy in tests and williamson in odis/tests.
Btw williamson started as a bowling all rounder, used to bat at number 6/7. Then he got reported and look at the transformation.
Smithy was supposed to be bowling allrounder and also used to play at 6th/7th and again transformed into world class.
Quality wise all are great but entertainment wise and if I had to pay for, I will go for root and kohli.
What is Smith's record outside Australia?
1. Younus Khan
root is an awesome batsmen, threw away his wicket a few times against pakistan otherwise would have scored more. williamson is getting better the more he plays and his record iwill only improve with time. kohli perhaps has the most potential, plays the most flamboyant, and with the most flair. steve smith is effective.
how they are now, root, smith, kane, virat
how they will end up, root, kane, virat, smith

In Test Cricket
He needs to do more to prove he is a good test batsman
Even though Kohli doesn't have as good test record as the other three but I would presume any opposition bowling to India would definitely fear him. We will see his test average climb up over next few years and I am pretty sure he will end up with a 50+ average.
Mans a beast. Your right he will adapt to the format and most likely build up to 55-60 test average just like Root
Even Amla and AB are ahead of these four right now. THey have long way to go.
Anyone who doesn't pick Kohli in LOI's is biased or has no understanding of the game.
The guy averages 50+ in T20Is FFS.
In tests, I'd go for Root
its about young bats......
