I went to the gym and asked them to help me get a programme to bulk up (I'm pretty skinny) keeping in mind that I play cricket as a bowler. First thing they did was check my flexibility (which is pretty bad, considering I rarely do any stretches... only before/after cricket and even then like simple stuff) and they found out that I have very little mobility in my joints. (also due to my bad posture) :lol

So basically I need to improve that before I can think of adding muscle mass to my gym schedule. :paranoid Really annoying, but I know it'll be better for me in the long term.

The gym trainer will be designing a specific workout for me to follow for a month. Then they'll evaluate how much I've improved and decide whether I need to follow it for longer or if the joints mobility has sufficiently improved for me to move on to the next step.

You don't need to workout heavy. Keep the volume down and take a lot of rest.

if you are serious about gym and are going to supplement. Take Whey.

Also, I'm pretty sure I've dropped weight since getting to Uni. I only eat 2 meals a day instead of 3 on most days (been skipping on breakfast... I know, I know... it's the most important meal of the day and all... but I usually get up with just enough time to get ready and go to my lectures.)

This is where your problems are. You need to eat regularly.

How inflexible are you? I am not the most flexible, but it doesn't stop me from any weight lifting movement.

The problem isn't that. I can lift weights just fine and would be able to add muscle onto my body easily if I decided to do that straight away right now.

Thing is I play as a fast bowler for my Uni cricket team and another club outside the uni. I've had problems with my shoulder and lower back before from playing cricket, but it hasn't been so severe that it stopped me from playing.

However, according to the trainer at the gym anyways, and she seemed to be extremely knowledgeable on the topic, if I add more muscle the way things are right now, it'll only increase my chances of getting injured, since the added muscle will only stiffen the joints more. so basically what they're trying to do is to add more mobility to my joints so it can go through a wider range of motions more fluently/easily so that even if I add muscle onto it later, it wouldn't cause me to get injured every time I turn my arm over.

It's basically my shoulder (rotator cuff, to be exact) that's the main issue here.

80% of success in bodybuilding is diet, the other 20% is weight training.

sit ups wont reduce fat around the abdomen. Sit ups will just tone your abs which will still be under the layer of fat, and you can't spot reduce fat either. So start doing some cardio and reduce your calories.

You can't spot reduce I am afraid. There are no exercises for losing belly fat. You need to be in a calorie deficit through diet, exercise or both.

I'm more realistic, I can't eat just stupid grilled food and I know I can't live without a good old curry, so I would be happy with a reasonably lean stomach.
