Australia’s legendary former captain Ricky Ponting has slammed Pakistan’s bowling attack after their lacklustre bowling display in the ongoing Test series against the Aussies.

Pakistan lost the first match at the Gabba in Brisbane by an innings and five runs to give Australia a one-nil lead. The Men in Green’s bowling attack seemed toothless as Australia’s batsman took their side to a dominant 589 for the loss of three wickets on the second day of the second and last Test at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide.

Ponting did not mince words while expressing his disappointment for the Men in Green’s bowling attack, terming it the worse he had seen on Australia’s shores.

“They (Pakistan’s bowlers) have been poor. Their bowling attack is terrible really for a Test attack,” Ponting told cricket.com.au. “I’m not sure I have seen a worse bowling attack on our shores in a long time.”

The former captain was baffled by the exclusion of young pace sensation Naseem Shah from the side who had received an overwhelming amount of praise for his hearty spells in the first Test.

“I still can’t understand why the 16-year-old hasn’t played this game, Naseem,” he said. “And they go with another guy (Musa) who has played seven first-class games and just doesn’t look to be a Test match bowler.”

Ponting believes Pakistan were caught in a perfect storm in the ongoing series against a side that was hungry to prove itself.

“They haven’t got much cattle. When you haven’t got much cattle against a batting line-up as hungry as ours, and in our conditions, and a team that is really trying to prove themselves back on the world stage, then I think Pakistan have just been caught in a perfect storm,” he concluded.

The commentator said in first 30 overs by Pakistan only 4 would hit the stumps. The ball is not seaming or swinging so why not attack stumps. Would attack the stumps regardless. What a shameful bowling.
