“First of all, I totally disagree with the team selection today. How can you drop Shadab,” Wasim questioned.

And he answered his own question saying that it seems Pakistan team was under pressure of green-top wicket.

But added that whatever the wicket was, dropping Shadab Khan was not a wise decision and termed it as bad as Australia dropping Shane Warne at his peak.

“It is like Australians, the mighty Australians dropping Shane Warne. Shadab is your main bowler, he can get you wickets in middle overs. It wasn’t a good decision to drop him,” Wasim said.

He also questioned abilities of Hassan Ali who has just six wickets in 10 ODIs this year with an average of over 90.

“It’s a concern that Hassan Ali is not taking wickets. He was our main bowler in Champions Trophy and was leading wicket taker but now he seems not in good form. He must improve his game you can’t bowl in ODIs the way you bowl in T20Is,” Wasim said.

Wasim also bashed Pakistani fieldsmen for being lethargic during the fielding saying that there was no excitement.

“How much you expect from the captain who is behind the wicket talking everytime to keep the team motivated, you need to be active and quick on the field as well,” he said.

The former captain added that Pakistan could’ve reached the target but lack of partnership restricted the team.

“The way Wahab and Hassan batted towards the end was a message that if you had stayed on wicket, you could’ve achieved the target. There was a hope when Wahab was playing but I knew that its matter of just one wicket and that’s what happened once Wahab was out,” he highlighted.

He added that Pakistan will be under huge pressure in game against India on Sunday at Manchester but suggested that Pakistan should forget about what happened and play with energy.

“It’s still not too late. Learn from mistake, forget past and look forward,” Wasim said when asked what is his message for team Pakistan.

“India is a good side and they had outclassed Australia earlier, Pakistan will be under pressure and to beat a side like India, you need to be at your best,” the former captain concluded.

He's right. Dropping Shadab affects the fielding also. And we saw that as Asif had to be in the slip position instead of Babar.

Hassan is out of rhythm but he's a safer bet over Shaheen.

It was a strange decision to drop him, I feel could have had the Aussies in trouble. And his replacement facepalm

It's just astonishing how stupid the management are.

I said yesterday here on CS...drop Malik for the fast bowler, Malik won't do jack with the bat. And what did we see?...

Also these plebs see a green pitch and decide to drop a leg spinner...who is one of your best bowlers...against a team that would struggle against good spin bowling. The opposition alone is reason enough to play Shadab.

It's ASTONISHING the low IQ level mongs Pak has.

Its a well know fact that mickey is allergic to spin, we have seen Pak being spin thin in Asia cup,UAE series and even in practice matches.I think it might have been micky's call to exclude shadab from the lineup on seeing the green wicket.

You have to make decisions based on the best information available. As they say, hindsight is 20/20. Let's not get distracted. With or without Shadab, 307 was a chaseable total while batting second. Focus should be on the batting failure in a case where Hasan and Wahab batted better than some of the batsmen. Now if we batted first and batted well, then we would be having a different discussion.

oh please, since when has Shadab ever produced a match winning odi performance? against a proper side, he's taken one 4 for, that's it.

hes young, finding his feet at the odi level, and is hardly a match turning winner (yet). as if dropping him was the difference between winning and losing. the bowling, although sketchy since the CT, was more than adequate to win the game. the issue was batting, as usual, the whole line up is poor quality, for which Flower and Mickey escape any criticism. that was a walk in the park total to achieve. And you have to go back 18 months before Shadab hit over 20 runs, so can't claim that either on his lack of selection.

Shadab might end up being a Warne, he might end up being a match winner, but he isn't today. the only area I agree that he is excellent in is in fielding, and it is correct that his ommission ended up forcing asif into a position the he shouldn't be in, but who's fault is that? its Inzy and Mickeys - asif has been in the preps for the last few years and was draughty in last minute, so they have net worked on his fitness, on his fielding etc - that totally, and utterly their fault, their poor selections and lack of adequate and professional preparation which they had a totally free hand for three years to do.

There are two issues with Pak, one is that we can't chase a good total, and another one is that we still don't know what is our best 11.
I don't think there should be any place for guys like S Malik, asif ali and Imad. Also Fakhar zaman should now start contributing, if he fails in remaining matches, he should be discarded for good from Pak team.

There is something going on behind the scenes. Does Waqar still have influence. Wasim and Rameez were fuming about the shadab decision. However, Waqar when questioned (by wasim on air) got very defensive and said he agreed with the decision.

    Makes you wonder
