Yep, let’s blame ICC management to be dumb and stuck in 80’s for not being able to change the venue of an international WC game at 8 days notice.

Seriously, you have no idea of what you are wanting to have done. But yeah, you are obviously entitled to think freely and voice your opinion.

So yeah let’s end this here. No hard feelings and no offense intended.

Not taking SL easy, yet this loss of 1 point will impact us lot more.

It's sad that in crickets marquee event that a potentially decisive game can be rained off.

In today's age there is no excuse. There should be some sort of a facility that sends covers out to cover the whole ground in the event of severe rain at the touch of a button. Furthermore, there must be some sort of contingency plans for a reserve day.

I've attended games that have been trained off. Sure you will be refunded ticket costs but when you take into account potential travel costs, time off work and hotel costs you end up losing a stack of money over a rain affected game.

    Dude,
Take it easy. It was only a lame attempt at sarcastic humor knowing what the team is facing right now.

So Australia game also has a strong possibility of being washed out it seems.

So we are basically in the end with two games - SL and Aus - and two points or the equivalent of one win. Without even delivering a ball or getting a single inside edge down to fine leg.

There is no practical solution unfortunately.

The only thing you can do is not hold major tournaments like this in England.

But some ridiculous ideas like having reserve grounds to hold the matches in or having retractable roofs for stadiums are laughable and will never work or be done or implemented anywhere.

This is something that has always been part and parcel of cricket. It is frustrating and annoys everyone but it is here to stay.

    Just think about it.

If it’s the same trend for Pakistani team as it was in 1992, then Sarfaraz will be Pakistan’s Prime Minister in 2046.

    (May God help us)

Just saw the weather again for Wednesday, It’s looking bad still but it has been getting better. Hopefully it changes up and we get a game.

Rain percentage has definitely come down. It was close to 80% few days back.

Probably good because the form Australia are in with the bat plus Taunton's tiny boundary. You never know.

The thing is though we'd have 2 washouts in a row before a massive game against India and we'd have most likely beaten Sri Lanka!

30 overs of Stoinis Coulter-Nile Zampa and Maxwell can easily be hit away for 200+ runs

Just need 100 from Starc and Cummins

Cummins is not so special bowler. Just play out Starc safely and we will be good.

    I think so too.
Taking 1 point from this game is better than taking 0 points.

Massive blow to SA chances if this match is washed out. WI will also find themselves unlucky as they would have backed themselves to get 2 points.

Rain has ruined everything. Thank you England.

Yes reserve days are certainly practical but ICC has decided they aren't for whatever reason.

I was talking about some of the other ideas I have seen people put forward e.g. retractable roofs etc

Yeah I don't know / care about the roofs.

Especially in a world cup, you have to have one reserve day per match. I don't think any grounds have consecutive matches and most teams have at least 3-4 days rest in between games. It seems pretty easy to take care of. Just frustrating to watch this over and over again.

And no I won't be thanking rain if we sneak into the semis because of it some how, I prefer to watch our team and other teams play cricket.

One or a couple of games for India, England, NZ and Australia needed to be washed off completely.

Another one bites the dust - SA vs. WI has been abandoned. The more deep we go in WC the more we will realize that we do need reserve days.

I think it will be nice to have a couple games washed out where India is pitted against some fuddu teams, like SL or Bangla or Afghanistan. That will make things even out in an interesting way.

LOL so tomorrows game looks OK, may game a completed game...then our game on Wedneday looks a wash out...then Thursday india-NZ game looks fine, maybe some showers but should be easily completed. Then Friday nice and sunny for Eng-WI

What a joke. I hope this is the Almighty somehow helping us because it seems we are the only ones getting screwed over lol

We wait 4 years for this tournament to take place and after 4 years we want to see cricket.

Imagine a keen saffer or Windies fan who put himself through the ballot and received tickets for this game.

He then goes and books a hotel and flights from Joburg/Jamica.

Arrives in England full of enthusiasm to support his team and the match gets rained off.

    What a shame!

And it's the only tournament where everyone brings their A game. I am very upset.
