A dream end for the West Indies to win the title of a very exciting ICC tournament. After their Under-19 title, this was a perfect day for Caribbean people to win 2 more ICC titles in 2016, first the Women's team winning the T20 World Cup earlier in the day and then an incredible game to clinch the Men's title later in the evening.

West Indies won their 10th consecutive toss and asked England to bat first on what looked like a good batting surface.

ENGLAND INNINGS (155/9 from 20 ov):
England started on a bad note losing 2 quick wickets in the first 2 overs of the game with Roy and Hales departing. Things weren't going as per their plans when they lost a 3rd wicket in form of Captain Morgan who continued his poor form. That was a third batsman falling with single digit scores.

Root and Buttler steadied the ship and formed a partnership. Once settled, they took on the bowlers and started attacking freely. At one stage, things started looking good for 180 plus score when Buttler was caught by Bravo after scoring a quick 36 off 22 balls. This ignited another cluster of wickets falling for England losing Stokes, Moeen and then Root as well who had scored yet another responsible innings of 54.

Willey and Jordan then took the scored a few runs before Windies bowlers struck again holding their proceedings.

England eventually ended their innings at 155-9 from 20 overs.

WEST INDIES INNINGS (161/6 from 19.4 ov):
It looked like a sub-par total for an in-form West Indian batting lineup. But England were pumped up to put on a good fight. Joe Root was introduced in the 2nd over of innings and the gamble proved right by Morgan when Charles lost his wicket on the very first ball. That was not enough of a damage caused, when Chris Gayle played another false shot failing in the second consecutive big game and got caught at the long off boundary.

Star of the Semi-Final, Lendl Simmons departed very early as well when Willey trapped him for an LBW on a conventional in-swing delivery even Wasim Akram would have been proud of.

Darren Bravo then joined Marlon Samuels at the crease and both batsmen played sensibly without taking too many risks. They saw off the new ball and kept ticking the scoreboard finding short gaps in the field and giving respect to good balls. It was the best partnership of the final with both adding 75 runs at a strike rate of 6.52. Bravo eventually lost his wicket trying to up the scoring rate but he had scored significant 25 runs from 27 balls before that.

Things started falling for West Indies and it looked like England have got the upper hand when big hitters Andre Russell and Captain Sammy both departed on single digit scores and the total was on 107-6 from 15.3 overs.

It proved to be a blessing in disguise with Carlos Brathwaite joining Marlon Samuels at the crease. With 38 needed off the last 3 overs, Willey came back to bowl his last over and bowled brilliant 5 bowls but faltered on the last one with Brathwaite getting a scoop shot over the keeper for four. The equation reduced to 27 runs from last 2 overs and things were looking all in favour of England, all the English were hoping was a decent over from Chris Jordan and that he delivered. Despite the first ball going to the boundary, Jordan held his nerve and bowled 5 consecutive difficult balls without giving a room to the batsmen to free their arms.

19 were needed off the last over. It was all in favour of England at that time and West Indies were only hoping for a miracle to happen. Brathwaite was on strike and Stokes was given the responsibility to bowl the final over of the World Cup to claim their hand on the trophy.

1st ball... SIX towards fine leg! 13 off 5 required.

2nd ball... SIX towards long on! 7 off 4 required.

3rd ball... SIX towards long on again!!! Scores level... Stokes stunned... the whole world stood still in shock...

4th ball... SIX again! West Indies become WORLD CHAMPIONS. That's right... CHAMPIONS, CHAMPIONS, CHAMPIONS...

What a finish! West Indies and T20 format is a match made in heaven. Ruthless match winners in that team. Deserving champs.

Gotta feel a bit for Stokes, reminded me of the Hussey assault on Ajmal a few years back.

      EDIT: This match

Samuels in post match press conference with both his legs on the table. Now this is foolishness and unprofessional behavior by an International Cricketer. Man you had won a T20 WC not like you had conquered the World. Fool

      Arrogance personified right there.

Might have won this time, but important to keep your feet planted firmly on the ground, or else you're gonna hit it very hard later.

Meh. You win the world cup, you can do whatever you want. It's his time in the spotlight, how he spends is up to him (no matter how foolish or unprofessional it looks to us). It's part of his personality.

Come on yaar International Media is sitting in front of him. What did he want to show them? One should be gracious in win. Totally unacceptable & arrogant behavior. Took gloss for me out of their win.

Don't get me wrong, I am not a fan. Just saying that he thinks he can get away with it and he probably will.

Listen to his post match conference, you'll know why he did it.

No matter what the situation or how big your achievement or position in life is, nothing gives you a right to sit in that manner in front of anyone.

Stay humble in victory. Be gracious in defeat.

Very disrespectful from Samuels. Comes across as arrogant. Important to not let success get to your head.

What did Samuel say about Shane Warne?

Marlon Samuels is named Man of the Match for his unbeaten 85, just as he was four years ago in Sri Lanka: "I know about finals, when I come to finals, I turn up for the team. All respect to the England players, we want to move from strength to strength - this is for the Caribbean. If we get a good start, then I can step on it, we lose wickets early so it's different. I didn't say much [to Brathwaite] other than swing and swing hard. This is for Shane Warne." Bit of a parting pop from Marlon... Spicy.

Congratulations to the Windies, that assualt at the end was brutal and personified the West Indies and their style of play.

England, were undone by Badree early up, Root and Buttler to an extent saved England the blushes, but overall it was a pretty downtrodden batting performance.

Stokes, Stokes, Stokes - what can you say, bar the fact that these 4 deliveries might have done him in, but honestly that assualt by Braithwaite, nothing he could do tbf.

Sammy's post match conference was awesome and sad at the same time, I don't know what else the WICB needs to wake up, but when your team at (arguably) it's lowest ebb can pull of 3 WC's strechted over 2-3 months, just imagine if you supported these guys and built the game at home, Windies would be a destructive force in LOI cricket.

Commsierations for England though, well played and Windies twice proved the better opponents. Future looks good for England in LO cricket (for once).

      Lara celebrating.

@Mercenary you wanted to know who Nauman Niaz was. He is the host of this PTV show.
His claim to fame before PTV was that he was a Pakistan cricket team doctor and traveled with team officially on many tours in 90s.

Amazing win.. Unrealistic to be honest. Four sixes four balls. Westindies has amazingly won its second world cup and became the first team to win two. When 19 were required I could not help but remember the 2012 semi final when the same amount was required and umar was batting. While braithwite smashed four in four he only caught air. Which explains the pressure and the pressure braithwite played under and smashed under.

As for stokes. Matches like these change players and this will be a tough match to forget. 19 from 6 is where you back the bowling team to win.

As for Samuels style of sitting. Well yes that's arrogance personified but considering the fact that every one calls them minnows and hacks and doesn't rate them, it could have prompted that style. Anyhow doesn't matter.

Was at a wedding yesterday watching this on my phone. Some brutal hitting at the end from Braithwate. What a finish to a final. Stuff dreams are made of. West Indies team has so many different match winners. Unlucky England, so close, hands on the trophy for it to be taken away in brutal style.
