I got leftist libertarian. Which is supposedly close to the green party in the UK but they are the polar opposite of me.

Aren't you more conservative (ie what they consider left) economically? From my debates with you, I got that you voted for Brexit because you didn't want freedom of movement, common market for trade, globalization etc...

 

Below is my political compass but I believe I am a little more centric regarding economic policies than the graph indicates.

 

Well, I'm a liberal in economic terms but they placed me on the center. It's a problem in liberal circles that they think it should at all cost exclude regulations, even if they are about fixing the externalized cost like the environment. To me, the model of liberal economics are the Netherlands and Denmark rather than the US or HK, but they get penalized due to environmental and health regulations and somewhat higher taxes on the index of economic freedom (which is nonsense unless you are saying that neoliberal economics are shortsighted). The funny thing is that it fails to account for the fact that a lot of countries have much higher spending as percentage of GDP than the taxes they collect, partially thanks to monetary policy (which they pay back in higher inflation) but that's not seen as penalizing. That's the main problem with neoliberal economics imo, the 0 government crowd.

Right = Liberal economics

Authoritarian = State-enforced values
Liberatarian = Laissez-faire values

You're in the center on both so hard to say unless you tell us which answers you had on one end or the other.

im an economic liberal barring the free movement of people across borders of economically unequal countries, and my beef with the eu is more on grounds of ideological opposition to centralisation and integration of sovereign powers into the eu.

It seems so. And surprise surprise it's the banker. Though it's only in the economic sense, the social issues are more on the authoritarian/libertarian scale.

I am socially liberal but fiscally conservative. I like the idea of benefits state and helping out the poor and vulnerable, but I find the widespread system abuse that comes along as a byproduct quite irritating.

I did not vote for Brexit.

Yeah we are same on the left/right scale (mostly economic). But I think people get more authoratiran as they age.

But a thing I have always asked myself is: do people get more right-wing/authoritarian as they age or it's the scale that changes with time? Maybe when current older gen was young, being ''progressive'' just meant being democratic or in favour of voting rights for women, without necessarily having all the stuff with gay-rights, immigration etc...
