Since IK handled the situation brilliantly and like a true leader.

I've got so much respect and hope from now. It's now highly possible that he might be the leader we have been seeking all these decades since Jinnah passed away.

This also got be thinking what would Nawaz had done if he was the PM instead of IK.

    discuss..

He would have been too slow to do anything, army would have taken the diplomatic matters into their own hands aswell and then we would have seen another coup.

Now that you mention this, it was such a relief nawaz was not the PM. I think even Zardari would have done things better than nawaz.

Imran's first address to the nation set the standard right. This is what the army wants in these situations that govt. hold the diplomatic end of the situation. Pakistan military has a think thank, they know what the enemy is trying to achieve and how to respond militarily but they have no training to handle things diplomatically.

Remove imran's addresses and speeches from the situation and it would have looked that the armed forces were working alone and the govt is sleeping.

Agree with @Disco Lemonade. The pro-activeness of IK and the sheer sensibility of the speeches would have been the biggest difference compared to PMLN or PPP.

When you get references like 'studied in Oxford' vs 'tea maker' for Imran against Modi - it does make a huge psychological impact on anyone who hears it, especially more so if you are a neutral.

I dont know what he would or wouldnt have done. What was striking in this scenario is that the civil government, army and the media were in complete alignment and ran a coordinated campaign to disprove Indias lies and launch a counter attack.

Depending on which side of the line you are this can be for two reasons.

    1. Imran is in cahoots with the army.
    2. Imran is a strong enough civilian leader that the other apparatus of the state are forced to share the same line.

The truth probably lies in the middle.

However, in todays age where images are beamed across the world, had Nawaz said the same words line for line as Imran did, the impact would have been nowhere near the same.

Imran haw a charisma on screen whereas Nawaz always seems as if he was there by mistake.

2 is not even possible, infact it would be dangerous for a country like Pakista. I would discuss it another thread. Either it is 1 or somewhere in between, looks as if it is somewhere in between.

It's naive to even have any expectations from someone like Nawaz. He was a failed business man whose father begged General Zia to take him away and launch him politically.

Today NS is vindicated for Dawn leaks and calling out to clean our house: Also kudos to current opposition for not playing politics on this topic that threatens Pakistan’s future.

Nawaz Sharif is vindicated for what exactly? His government denied the validity of the report in Dawn and launched a full blown JIT to find the people who had "made up the story". He slaughtered two of his own cabinet members so he wouldn't have to take ownership.

I’m sorry but please stop fooling yourself and go and check what were PTI leaders doing back then. Kudos to current opposition for showing maturity

The fact is that Nawaz Sharif and his cabinet claimed the entire report was fabricated. History is there for all to see.
