The guy has been in and out of the team for a while now and it seems like the selectors want to push forward with him and see him at least as a good backup batsman for Malik/Hafeez/Haris and a starter for T20s.

I was totally off on him after the last ODI and first T20, but given how desperately we need players who can score quickly, does Umar Amin deserve a go down the order in T20s? And maybe even ODIs at 6/7? Or was today just a fluke and he was batting on a belter?

He hit some massive sixes and picked up the spin very well. Not to mention, they were proper cricketing shots and not just hacks. Hitting 3 sixes in 5 balls is not a joke.

I guess the PSL should reveal more information, because I don't really know of any capable backups at the moment either. Just curious what people's thoughts are.

Quetta have picked so much batsman and to top it off they are all promising however as you do it Asad Shafiq will play all the games.

The batting will look like this, they have a weak bowling line up so they can't bat down to 7 really.

    1:Asad
    2:Watson
    3:KP
    4:Rousow
    5:Sarfraz
    6:Mahmadullah/Brathwite
    7:Hassan Khan
    8:Nawaz
    9:Anwar Ali
    10:Rahat
    11:Mir Hamza

They can't afford to play a bowler less as they will be punished.

But the quality of batting that will be missed is.

    Saad Ali
    Saud Shakeel
    Umar Amin
    Rameez Raja Jr
    Jason Roy

Umar Amin might play if Shafiq is out of form or their is a slight chance he may play the Whole tournament but Sarfraz and Shafiq are friends so it is very unlikely.

Not sold on him yet, he has failed way too many times. Needs to prove that he can do this regularly. As it stands right now, I'd rather have Umar Akmal in the team.

One over of hitting does not make him or anyone a better option. I would take Umar Akmal over him any day of the week.

Pakistani fans memories are so short. Umar went, what, 2 years without playing a single valuable knock?

I feel a bit sorry for him. Seems to be one of those players that doesnt get a game in the UAE but gets picked abroad where he will inevitably struggle.

Needs to be given a decent run. I personally dont rate him but its unfair on him whereas others get series after series in the UAE....Shan Masood for example.

needs to get over him, he was never impressive in England tour ( spot fixing tour ). limited shot selections, yesterday he got out slogging blindly rather than hitting it towards mid off ... mediocre player like hafeez... inzi parchi

Promising first knock, on a difficult pitch. He's a nagging sort, and most likely will not perform on the day, lol. But its good to see him get some limelight.

Today he showed a lot of class on a difficult track. We should invest in him. We don’t have abundance of batting talent and this guy looks far superior than Talat. I guess he has improved over the years now

Aqib Javed once rated him as the best bat Pakistan had in the wings. Rating him ahead of a yound Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal. However, he never paid back his faith.

He batted really well against some quality fast bowlers like Shaheen, Rahat and the emerging Rauf but they only need 70 odd runs. I would be shocked to see him play like that when the total is 140+

There is a reason he's referred to as CLH. Technique and class has always been there but lacks consistency and crumbles under pressure

One good innings does not a summer make! And one good innings does not wash the failures and incompetence that has gone through years from Umar Amin!!

I rate his technique and ability, mentally shot but if anyone can instill some grit into him it is YK

Shan, Umar Akmal, (Shahzad at one point), Kamran Akmal have all benefited from being mentored by YK, Malan accredited his form to YK too in PSL 2

Imam looked a million rupees out there too. On these pitches there is no better person to tell you what to do than the legend himself.
