What changes (if any) should we expect post world cup? What changes would you make in the administration/team/management and where exactly do we go from here?

Definately change in captaincy and coaching staff.
End of Wahab, Sarfaraz, Hafeez and Malik.

Amir or Babar as captain with the other one as deputy.

Agreed! Babar and Amir along with a core of Haris, Imam, Fakhar and Imad should be the ones going forward with Imad on a short leash.

Time's up for the likes of Hafeez, Malik, Sarfraz, Wahab and Hasan Ali.

 

Imad would have been my main candidate but he is same like others on and off with no extraordinary talent and was lucky to win game for Pakistan after not given out LBW. Also, his place in team is not permanent and is subject to pitch conditions.

Amir, Babar, Haris and Shaheen should be the core of the team, around which we should build a team for next WC.

Imad,shadab and hasan ali must be sent back to play FC and iron out their issues.

Imad must be told to start turning the ball or he has no place in the team, shadab has to work on his batting and flighting the ball if he has to play test match.

Hasan Ali must be asked to Improve his new ball bowling which will make him pitch it up and sort his line and length issue.

Idea to make fakar zeman test player must be drop and make him a good LOI player.

Imam has to improve his stroke play, well all Pakistani batsmen need to do that so PCB must hire and batting coach with more modern day approach to batting. If McKenzie is available pick him or brad Hodge.

If PCB doesn't hire saqlain now then they are fool and hardy, Pakistan need saqlain to improve the spin department.

Mike needs to continue with a better bowling coach and a captain who is allowed to take a stand.

You took four years to prep a bowling attack that had to be scrambled and discarded at the last moment.
And those who you did not recommend, performed better.

And supposedly, Wasim Akram had to give tips to Afridi so that he could stop the batsmen from beating him like a Dhobi? And you start “HOPING” that Hassan Ali will also hit the form. Hoping? Are you kidding with me?

Seriously, what do you get highly paid for? Your body language gives super negative vibes with a 24/7 long face - are you even a likeable person, who is popular and easily approachable?

Parchi Imam is nothing special - and so was the performance of Fakhar.

Both should be placed on one year probation. If they can’t achieve significant improvement then they should be shown the door.
And this is especially good for imam - if Inzi stays, imam wouldn’t care much about this probation/threat.

Haris Sohail - He should be demoted to Pak A team, until he loses 25 pounds in max six months. If he does so, AND maintains it, he should be promoted back to the national team.

Afridi - No, you are nothing special either. For a minimum, learn how to lock your wrist and also learn an effective and deceptive slow ball.

Babar Azam: yes, top T20 batsman and lovely drives through covers but in all honesty, your defense and offense techniques are both VERY weak.

Whenever you charge down the wicket to play an inside out shot, you always give an easy pop up catch.

And the way you got bowled by Kuldeep, even though it was a good ball, but pretty much it exposed your week defense technique. This needs fixing and improvement. Seriously, you don’t show any signs that you put a high value on your wicket.

Amir and Hasan Ali and Hasnain and Afridi.

All 4 of you should practice hard hitting batting minimum 2 hours each, EVERY DAY to transform yourselves into someone who is potentially capable of scoring quick near the innings end, rather than bat like playing cricket reserved for mental retards.

Every player be placed on the edge of a cliff warning for even trying to play politics and/or forming groups in the team - whether it’s Imad or whoever, if start to act like a dirty fish in the pond, you get thrown out not matter how good of a player you are, or however cute does your face look - you are out !!

And then, there are way way WAYYY TOO MANY rotten eggs and Ganday Timater in the 900+ army of PCB employers.

A complete overhaul is required - all the sifarshies, political and nepotism based hires, and budhay toutay should be removed.


And this guy Waseem Khan has to quickly prove his worth and show us why was he hired?

 

Arthur, Azhar, Sarfaraz, Malik, Hafeez should all be sent packing.

Imam, Fakhar & Hasan should be sent back to domestic and let them earn their place back.

Wahab could still play a role in the coming WT20. So should stick around for a while.

 

I don't think he's got a weak technique. It's just my opinion but Indians know more about batting then Pakistanis and they all agree he has a good technique. Some even saying he's like Dravid when he gets himself behind the ball and blocks, but that's too far. Sometimes he gets slightly square on against pace but that can be corrected. Against spin he needs to learn to pick leg spinner variations.

As for offensive game Babar will learn over time. First let him bat sensibly.

 

You're essentially asking for the entire personnel to be changed/discarded/put on a leash. I agree that management staff (minus Micky) and PCB employees need to be shown the door however we can't develop a team from scratch by removing 100% of the players.

You need a core bunch to build a team around them so that you don't have to literally start from scratch which would be counterproductive and effectively put Pakistan at a severe disadvantage.

 

We are suppose to rebuild but it seem that you all ppl want to demolish the team to ground first.

This team is good. Coaching staff can be tinkered with, especially the batting and bowling coaches.

Bring 2-3 players in. Especially spin bowlers.

Need to bring in power hitters and good bowlers, both spin and pace.

the rest of the side should be constructed depending on the competency of the chief selector and his ability to be able to properly weigh the opinion of whoever the new captain and coach might be. given there appears at the moment to be such limited exceptional talent in the LA tables, its difficult to have much conviction in the individual constituents of the side. its probably only Babar, Haris and Shan I would have as definites in the side, everyone else is mediocre and replaceable.

there is no chance in hell I would hand over the captaincy to amir - a player who given his performance this tournament has clearly underperformed for Pakistan for two years, and who at any rate is a convicted criminal. given his and wahabs predisposition to pick and choose when to turn up, neither would be definites in my side. Fakhar too needs a reappraisal sadly to work out why he has had an extended dip in form.

first blush at a starting point for rebuilding for me would probably be something like:

4. Haris
5. Rizwan (wk)
6.
7. imad
8. shadab
9.
10. shinwari
11. Shaheen

with only 1. 3. 4. 5 less likely to be replaced. shadab is a t20 player, he was shoe-horned into the ODI and Tests sides which will ruin him because he is not ready for either, Imad is mediocre, shinwari is mediocre, Shaheen is mediocre.

 

Shan, Rizwan and Shadab? LOL

We need attacking opener i.e. someone like Sharjeel.

We need attacking spinner who can take wickets i.e. someone like Ajmal.

We need wicket-keeper who can score big and fast since he is mostly likely to be batting at 5/6 i.e. someone like Buttler/Bairstow/Carey.

 

We dont have anyone like Buttler, Bairstow etc in domestic

Unless you wanna go back to Umar Akmal

shan averages 70+ during the last three years or so of LA, beating anyone else on the circuit by a mile. the PCB 1) picked him for tests even though his LA stats are >>>>>> than his FC stats, because they are idiots, and then 2) when they finally did get round to picking him for ODIs, teyv hardly gave him any chances before discarding him, even though he outperformed their golden child imam who was given countless chances to shore up meaningless runs against Ireland and Zimbabwe. the truth eventually comes out though, as we have seen this tournament where he has been exposed as shit.

Rizwan is the next best batter we have had tested. he's mediocre too, but there is no other tested replacement.

Shadab shouldn't be playing ODIs in my opinion because he is too young and inexperienced. but in the absence of someone else, I would tolerate him.

If not then bring back Umar Akmal.

Do we need "tested" replacement of Safraz? why not pick someone with potential and aim to be ready for 2023 WC?

We must have a better spinner than Shadab in domestic. May try Zafar Gohar? heard a lot about him.

Umar is our best ODI bat. If only, he can learn to keep quiet and focus on cricket.

 

Shadab is fine. He is just like Chahal.

The problem is he needs a proper spinner with him. Someone like Yadav. Maybe Zafar can play that role.

We would have bowled out likes of NZ and Afghan much earlier if we had a good spinner.

Everyone's calling for that kid Umer Khan from PSL now. That's the issue with our whole set up. Players like Zafar who have been performing in FC, List A are sidelined for guys like Umer due to PSL

Shadab, Zafar, Shaheen, Amir, Haris Rauf is a solid bowling attack imo

Wahab (for the 2 T20 World Cups), Hassan (if he can get to form) are good back ups.

 

We can't afford 5 bowler. We need 1 genuine all-rounder like Pandya.

 

If your top 4-5 batsmen - Fakhar, Imam, Babar, Haris, Rizwan all average 45+ then you can afford 5 genuine bowlers.

 

Also we need very good players of spin

Next World Cup is in India.

 

If India with Kohli/Sharma can't afford then we certainly can't.

Anyways, we will see if mentioned players will average 45+ at 95+ s/r against decent oppositions. Currently, Imam is way better option than Shadab as a second spinner.

 

Of course I will throw away Inzy and Micky both along with Flower and Azhar, because both have done way too many experiments till the last minute and never let the side settled down.

I know people are talking about finding a keeper like Buttler, without realizing that
A) there is no Buttler in Pakistan domestic
B) Buttler came through a system, do we have such system available in Pakistan?

Therefore, all this idea of deploying Buttler at no.5 is wishful thinking. And lets dont even name Umar Akmal, you're only setting up yourself for more disappointment and embarrassment with this clown.

Inline should be our core players (you need 5/6 core players, who should be match-winners - in 2019 squad we have only 3 core players, which include, Fakhar, Babar and Amir - only Amir has performed and Babar did it in few games. Fakhar is brutally out of form and it has hurt us very bad).

2) Sharjeel - ( yes, I want him back, because A) nothing has been proven against him, B) When Amir, Warner and Smith can come back then he can too. Also, do this date we dont have his replacement).

6) Keeper - Sarfraz/Rizwan/Umar Siddiq
7) Shadab/Imad
8) Zafar Gohar/ Umar Khan/ Kamran Ghulam, (full time spinner)

why the hell would anyone assess a player based on one series and ignore three years of batting - please explain this to me.

and this idea of picking potential - how has that worked so far for you? how has Hasnain worked out picking someone on 'potential'? other than archer and warner, who else on the whole planet other than Pakistani fans ignores the best performers in a country, and selects people on 'potential'?

Imam can only play test cricket. Introduce a right hand partner to Fakhar in limited overs cricket like Abid Ali and Ahmed Shahzad.

I very much know what is leg spin cus i bowled both off spin and leg spin for more than 15 yrs and spin wizard myself!! Shadab ka role 2nd bowling mein ziada important tha aur most of the time we bowled first in this tournament whether winning the toss or losing the toss so I dont think Shadab can be judged on first innings performances. You put a total on the board and give it to defend to Shadab and Imad in these prevailing conditions and if they are not able to defend that total then its their fault but so far we havent had too many opportunities to bat first and post decent totals on the board in this tournament!! Once, Shadab got that opportunity I think against South Africa and Shadab ended up with 3 important wickets and sealed the game for us!!
Be a man of understanding than be the man of knowledge!!

Replace Sarfaraz as Captain etc etc....Fact is nothing will change, all the changes won't help unless the attitude amongst the players, the fans and the PCB changes.
