Which 3 of the players do you think deseve a call up to pakistan test squad the most and which 3 players current test players would you drop to pick them?

Use the age, position and averages as guidance, as we all know the state of pakistan domestic cricket and flat pitches.
    Code:
    			(Tests) First Class
    Name Age	Matches	Average Position
    Ali Asad	21	27	39.28 L/H Opener W/K
    Asad Shafiq	24	35	43.70 R/H Opener W/K
    Naeemuddin	28	31	42.97 L/H Opener
    Azhar Ali	25	50	40.42 R/H Opener
    Umar Amin	20	29	42.00 L/H Top Order
    Sheharyar Ghani	24	21	44.59 L/H Top Order
    Azeem Ghumman	19	17	48.79 R/H Top Order
    Aamer Sajjad	29	73	43.05 R/H Top Order
    Naved Yasin	22	28	54.05 L/H Middle Order
    Saeed Bin Nasir	30	118	42.89 R/H Middle Order

I dont think we have much room to move in the middle order. We cant drop YK, Moyo or Umar. Malik's spot is the one up for grabs but if Afridi is made captain then he'll take that spot.

Out of the names you've listed above they all need an opportunity but if I had to choose one then I'd go with Sheryar Ghani or Naved Yasin. I haven't seen those two play but then, apart from Azeem, I havent seen any of them play!

LOL you started this same thread on Pak Passion ghulam:p

Anyway, looking at our test team I would bring in a couple of openers along with Salman Butt. I'd drop Farhat and bring in Azhar Ali and Taufeeq Umar to fight it out for that 2nd openers spot.

I agree with Merc on the middle order though. With YK, Fawad, Moyo and ofcourse Umar Akmal in the sqaud you don't really need another middle order batsman especially if Afridi players as an all rounder.

If Afridi doesn't play test cricket then you need another middle order bat. And in that case I would go with Naved Yasin. Aamer Sajjad is another option and so is Azeem Ghumman. But I think Ghumman needs to be give more time to develop.

Ofcourse I also believe that players like Naved Yasin and Asad Shafiq need a few A team tours to build on there amazing run scoring in this seasons QEA trophy.

The only 2 players i;ve seen play on the list are Asad Shafiq and Azeem Ghumnam aswell.

Younis Khan and Mohammed Yousaf are Pakistan best batsman on repuation and very good players. I wouldn't drop neither of them. Umar Akmal and Fawad Alam deserve a good long run in the squad so I wouldn't drop them either. Even though I personally think Umar Akmal lacks the temperment to play a very long innings. Shoaib Malik hasn't really performed much in tests apart from when I think he opened the inninngs.

So Shoaib Malik, Imran Farhat and Salman Butt should be dropped, Whereas Shahid Afridi goes I think he should be in the test team as a lone spinner and another spinner coming into the squad depending on pitch conditions. So i'm going to consider 1 of the 4 specialist bowlers in the Test team rather than a batsman.

So so far the only players guranteed a team as batsmen are
    Opener
    Opener
    Younis Khan
    Mohammed Yousaf
    Umar Akmal
    Fawad Alam
    Wicket Keeper
    Bowler
    Bowler
    Bowler
    Bowler

Mohammad Yousuf (capt), Salman Butt, Khurrum Manzoor, Imran Farhat, Shoaib Malik, Fawad Alam, Faisal Iqbal, Misbah-ul-Haq, Kamran Akmal (wk), Danish Kaneria, Saeed Ajmal, Umar Gul, Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Aamer, Abdur Rauf, Umer Akmal.

But considering that Khurram Manzoor, Faisal Iqbal, Misbah Ul Haq were in the 15 man squad to tour Austrailia, I will replace all 3 with

    Saeed Bin Nasir
    Naved Yasin
    Naeemuddin

But If I could replace further players from the list, I will replace Salman Butt, Imran Farhat and Shoaib Malik

    Azhar Ali
    Sheharyar Ghani
Asad Shafiq (He gives the backup wicket keeper and opener option)

The rest on the list do seem like great players Umar Amin and Azeem Ghumnam I;ve heard a lot of postive things about but don't make the final cut. Any of these players on this list not in the main squad, should at least be playing for Pakistan A squad.

I know I like to be fair to both boards :)

I forgot the title of my own thread, ok the only 2 players I will give a debut to is

    Azhar Ali
    Naeemuddin

because our openers are useless, Salman Butt batting might be good but he will always cause a run out or drop a catch thats the only thing his selection gurantees. I haven't seen Naeemuddin and Azhar Ali play but they fielding and running between wickets can't be as bad as Salman Butts. Whereas Imran Farhat isn't working either.

Whereas i've said in the post before this that I personally don't think Umar Akmal has the temperment to make big hundreds but I know that will come with experience and If dropped now it will hurt his development and confidence really bad so he should stay in but if he were to be dropped then the 3rd player I would choose is

    Saeed Bin Nasir

He's experienced, mature and got a really good average, So if Yousaf and Younis fail then least the next in will be someone whose equally experienced. Rather than exposing the youngsters and putting too much pressure early on in their careers.

Knowing how well Ghani performed on that Australian tour where Umar Akmal scored tons and got his opportunity, I would give Ghani a fair run in the side. One player at a time with ample opportunities would be a much better strategy than taking a few debutants and trying a new one in every match.

Merc, Malik has no test spot for it to be "up for grabs" ;) .

IIRC Ghani didn't too that well in Australia. I don't think he got many opportunities in the test games. I remember him playing one good innings in the limited over games.

He didnt play any of the 4 day games, there were 3 one day games and he played all 3. Pakistan lost the series 2-1 and in the only game that they won it was Ghani who saved Pakistan when they were 28/3. He scored 90-odd in that game and 50-odd in another one. he only failed in one game where he got a dozen or so runs.

He scored those runs against a solid bowling attack so I think he deserves a chance

Shehryar Ghani outplayed Umar Akmal in the Pakistan A series tour of Australia A.

    More Runs, Higher Average.

It is a scandal that Ghani has gone back to our useless domestic scene whilst Umar Akmal no doubt thanks partly to the patronage of his brother has gone on to become an almost permanent fixture.

Whoa Whoa. Back up there friend.

Umar Akmal played 4 4-day innings and he scored nearly 300 runs averaging above 90 with 2 centuries and a 50.

Ghani didn't even play any of the 4 day games.

Akmal also played the 3 limited over games scoring a century and averaging over 50.

Ghani played all 3 of the limited over games aswell and scored a couple of 50's. His average was very good. About 55 I think.

He then went to Sri Lanka and scored 10 runs in three innings in the limted over games.

At the same time Umar Akmal was hitting his maiden ODI century in only his second game against the same opposition.

Big brother or not Umar Akmal was the standout player of that whole tour for both sides and was deservedly picked to play for the senior team.

Ghani outplayed Umar in the one days games but Umar was the best batsman on that tour. He regularly rescued the team from near impossible situations. Umar has already looked the best batsman to debut for Pakistan since Yasir Hameed (who should be opening for us).

Ghani had two good scores against Australia A and then failed in all 3 games against Sri Lanka A. So that's 4 failures out of 6.

Ghani's done enough to get a chance ahead of the likes of Faisal Iqbal and Malik but not Umar Akmal.

Now that Younis Khan, Mohammed Yousaf and Shoaib Malik are banned for the time being.

I would call in Umar Amin, Naved Yasin and Saeed Bin Nasir aswell as Naeemuddin and Azhar Ali to replace Salman Butt and Imran Farhat. Replace Misbah and Faisal Iqbal with Azeem Ghumnam and Aamer Sajjad.

Azeem Ghumman as opener, Shahryar Ghani and Umar Amin for the MO...what I liked most about all 3 is their technique, looks pretty solid and compact.

Umar Amin seems the most ready. Pretty good technique, good temperament, and an understanding of the game. I'd select him for the England series.

For tests, Naved Yasin, Sheheryar Ghani and Azeem Ghumman, if we are loking only at the middle order, if an opener is required, then Umar Amin instead of Ghumman.

For ODIs, Azeem Ghumman and Naved Yasin. Backups would be Sheheryar Ghani and Umar Amin.

For the third choice in ODIs, I will prefer a batsman outside of this list. The Great West Indies team of the 80s and the South Africa team of the 90s had one thing in common. They both selected a batsman who wasnt really a great batsman, he was an above average batsman, but an excellent fielder, namely Gus Logie for the Windies, and Jonty Rhodes for the Proteas. Therefore, my third pick for ODIs would be Shahid Yousaf.
