Pinch hitters in cricket are used wherein you promote up the batting order of any specific player in order to score quick runs.

I know we have Fakhar at the top to give us brisk start, however, if situation demands and we need to accelerate scoring rate further, than who you think can be used for this purpose?

Highly likely here is how our batting will look like, specially top 7.

    Fakhar,
    Imam,
    Babar,
    Hafeez,
    Sarfraz,
    Malik,
    Imad.

Based on this batting order, I will pin my hope on Imad, who has been really good with the bat.

I would just keep Hussan to come down and swing, because, any good pacer can run rings around him.

I thought of Faheem, but honestly he hasnt done anything significant...

Btw this pinch hitter strategy was used in 90s and early 200s where a pinch hitter used to come at number 3.

Now other teams have improved significanfly and play versatile batsmen rather than wasting a top order position by a gamble.

We are still stuck in 90s.

Other than him Fakhar is the only one who can take on pacers.. maybe Hafeez to some extent.

Rest are all either too defensive or sitting ducks against quality pacers.

When you have too many accumulators, like we do, then you might need it, specially if you're chasing 330+.

Hafeez is a treat to watch when in full swing, but I cant call him pinch hitter, it has to be either Imad or Faheem/Hassan.

This is why i said we are still stuck in 90s.

Imam, Babar, Malik and Haris all same kind of batsmen. Only one or at the very most 2 of them should play in an odi batting lineup or they need to improve their batting significantly

    Don't need a pinch hitter

Contrary to popular opinion IMO our batting is fine anyway - the problem is our bowling

Maybe you should get updated because asking bowlers cant defend 250 on phattas on regular basis.

Pakistab can barely score 250+ let alone 300 on regular basis. Team is full of tukators and selfish batsmen

Imad is the only hope Middle/lower-order hope.

Fahim who was touted as the next Razzaq has been a disappointment with the bat. Middle order are all slow batsmen who like to take their time. Sarfraz is unreliable and Hasan can perhaps slog a few but that’s about it. Hence why Fakhar is so critical for us.

of what i have seen of pakistani batsmen, they all follow the razzaq style of hitting, which is to clear the front leg and hit the ball hard. i believe we are lacking batsmen who can hit the ball like we see batsmen from other countries in t20 leagues. in that regard, i believe hafeez is a little innovative, so is sarfraz. imad doesnt seem like a hitter to me to be honest.

They try to but clearly it’s not very effective. Hafeez can up the tempo as he showed in the CT final. Sarfraz isn’t a big hitter. Problem is malik/imam/Haris are all pretty slow compared to modern day standards.

Hafeez is a great batsman. No shot against pace that he doesn't have, it's just swing and seem which has done him. Flick he plays, cover drive he plays, cut and pull he has, glance he has, on drive he has, lofted drives he has.

Imad has been very good lately, so my first choice would be him as well.
After that, it's a tossup between Faheem and Hassan.

Realistically there is no hitter in the team. This team is loaded with accumulators and isn't built for morden ODIs. For all his issues, we needed Umar Akmal to get a better balance. Winning will depend on the other team messing up and/or bowling heroics. The success rate of Malik/Hafeez/Sarfraz/Faheem is too low to depend on them. One of them may offer a secondary boost once in a while after one of the youngsters does the heavy lifting but its been ages since they by themselves led the team to a victory.

I'd advise the guys up the order to play more positive however that doesn't mean smash fours and sixes it means convert ones into twos, run singles and target a weak link in opposition attack.

As for hitting work on Faheem, Imad and Shadab.

In the modern ODI cricket, all six should be pinch hitters, not just one to compete with Indian or English batting juggernauts. There is a reason we are crawling at no. 6 in ODI rankings, and for a long long time.

Asif Ali, Imad and Hafeez can change gears effectively.

Faheem is a tail ender but also bowls like a specialist batsman so...
