If I have to pick one as test spinner its between Saqlain and Mushie!!
Saqlain was amazing, Saeed Ajmal was good as well. But when it comes to fear factor, no one comes close to Abdul Qaidar. I remember the English and Australians hate to face him.
Ragana Herath best spinner of all time
Saqlain was easily our best as he invented and perfected Doosra.
This was something that was unthinkable by the laws of physics, so no bowler in the world ever tried it.
Saqlain also was quite a magician in putting the break on runs flow.
Others were good too, like Qadir and Mushi etc but they didn't invent anything.
The thread is about "our" spinner, and no wonder you look Sri Lankan.
Chucker doesn't make the list because he was a cheat
He was tested and allowed by the ICC. So during that period he played under those rules, his stats should count.
If I had too judge the cricket knowledge of everyone on this site through this thread only, then I may regret spending so much of time and effort here.
You ppl are rating spinner from different era but with a same yardstick.
I remember watching Qadir troubling mighty batsmen of his time but was hampered by the umpiring laws.
If he had the help of DRS and umpires willing to upheld the appeal on their view of pad first trust you me Qadir may have got more than 500 wickets.
Just saw Imran khan old interview where he said
" If batsmen were given out on front foot like now than Qadir may have got wickets than others bowlers.
Viv and ranatunga had said that Qadir was better spinner than warne".
I rest my case.
