World T20 Warm-Up | Ind vs Pak | 17 September 2012 | Match Thread

So the rivals meet once again after nearly more than half a year. This match may be a warm-up but that will be far from people's minds.

Will serve as a good prelude to 30 September Super 8 match between India and Pakistan and the 3 ODI 2 T20 series in December:

Gambhir vs Hafeez
Lefty killer vs one of the best left handed batsmen in the world. While Hafeez was on the receiving end of Gambhir's magnificent knock in the World T20 2007 final, in recent times Hafeez has had the upper hand - dismissing Gambhir cheaply in their last two matches, with a duck in the first over in the last one.

Sehwag vs Ajmal
Sehwag is one of the best players against spin. Spinners of the caliber of Warne, Murali, Swann, Saqlain have been at the receiving end of his bat. Even spin sensation Narine who is weaving webs around batsmen was on the receiving end of his 219. On the other hand, Ajmal is the best spinner in the world currently in all three formats of the game and is unplayable at the moment. His last encounters against India were good but not upto his usual unplayable standards. Highly anticipated encounter.

Irfan vs Afridi
Pathan vs Pathan. All-rounder vs All-rounder. Afridi has a reputation of being a bunny of Irfan and has been dismissed by him quite a few times, most famous of which was the golden duck in the 2007 final. But Afridi is one of the best T20 players in the world and you can never underestimate him. This is quite mouth-watering as the contest can take part in two parts - Afridi bowling vs Irfan batting and vice versa.

 

Time to test out option B.

It is just a warm up game, no need to hype it up.

SHould be a good contest, if we can play out Ajmal, our batsman should be able to take care of the rest of the bowlers. Don't want to sound arrogant but i can see us winning this game with ease

 

True that but let's see. Anyway win-lose it's just a warm-up but it'll give good idea for real match on 30th.

 

Yup, thats if face on 30th march(hope we don't get a repeat of 2007 50 over WC, where we got to see Ireland vs Bangladesh instead of Pak vs India)

 

Truth be told there is more chance of that happening here as it is T20.
