Oh wait... just recalled Imran Tahir
Some really funny comments in this thread. Yasir owned a lot of arm chair experts.
Class act in Tests.
Yasir has great control, I've said it before I believe, but he's more than capable of pitching the ball 4-5/6 in the same spot - considering the one aspect a leg spinner would worry you with, is his control, Yasir has pretty much squashed that notion. He has great control like I said.
Now if only he would vary his pace, caught his spell today and he was fantastic, but he can be better if he lets the ball take over, there was balls/moments where he was trying to 'over'-rip the ball, he should just take it easy and rip it just enough to let the ball do the talking.
Otherwise he's turning out to be a good find, also no better sight in cricket than watching a fast bowler and leg spinner bowl in tandem.
Wahab and Yasir have been really exciting!
Superb addition to our set-up. He needs to be played in all formats of the game, can develop well with the bat and has a good attitude in the field.
Should play the ODI series
Ajmal days are over .. he bowled excellent in the start of his career but Indian funded ICC has ended his carrer.. anways shah is excellent a very perfect replacement for Ajmal paji
best strike rate for spinners with 50+ wickets post wwII
Humble pie time... Yasir has mA, improved drastically. I didn't expect such one dimensional leggie to run through a batting side which plays spin well, but all the credit to him the way he owned all his doubters and was amongst the wickets regularly. Hopefully he becomes a wicket taker in Loi's too, iA
Hope he can adapt to ODI cricket as we can certainly do with a leggie in there especially as Afridi has left now which has opened that gap up in the side.
Told ya, he's good for Tests.
Still doubt he'd do well in limited over games, but hope I'm wrong.
I hope bro now your views change regarding him.
Watch that wicket of Wood a perfect googly.
I think it was Bairstow
Yeah Bairstow you are right. Wood was taken by Zulfi baba.
Overrated, doesn't spin the ball much, barely passable figures, got the tail in the first innings, not very effective in the 2nd on a turning track
Are you out of your mind? Got England's best batsman in both innings. And more than half of his wickets were of England's accomplished batsmen.
Doesn't spin the ball? LOL
Cook? Out of a sweep in the first innings, a bad shot, hardly a good ball. Second innings, he was injured
Hardly some brilliant bowling, got the scraps from Wahab's effort in the first (Which was overrated too, terrible bowling apart from that one spell) and then got a couple on a turner without looking dangerous and bowling too short
Okay. Can't take you serious sorry.
So no reply then okay
He's trolling lol.
Anyway when he first came on the scene, Yasir didn't have an effective googly but working with Mushtaq has helped him a lot, he has a good googly now.
Don't you have anything else to do a part from trolling 24/7 ? -_-
It's not trolling, keep overrating him, if he's so good, why didn't he run through England? Was played easily by Wood and Rashid
He's No. 2 in the world and the fastest spinner to 69 wickets. Enough said.
What's so special about 69 wickets? Why is 69 on your mind anyway?
brooo. dont fall for his trolling
why wouldn't it be
Lol. Because Yasir's taken 69 wickets in his Test career so far...
Who was fastest to 50, an actual stat...
What about Ashwin? Also, how many games away from home? All in subcontinental doctored turning tracks with Zulfiqar's support
Yasir is joint 2nd highest spinner to 50 wkts in tests too lol.
You be got a point about not playing in Asia. Should be interesting to see how he goes overseas but he's been brilliant so far mA
Will fail overseas most probably and I will be proven right again, like I was over Malik iA
Leg Break bowlers are more successful on bouncy tracks so I see no reason why he will not be successful overseas.
One of my favourite players in world cricket atm.
Currently has a SR of 48.7 after the Dubai Test. I know it's only early days but it's an amazing feat when you factor in his lack of variation. I've only spotted a slider and the tentative beginnings of a googly (Bairstow dismissal). No outstanding drift like Warne or extreme variation/unorthodoxy like the two spinners after him in the SR list.
The ability to play quality spin is on the decline even in India and whilst he may not have the classical aura of mystery that comes with variation and drift, it is a testament to his fantastic control and overall energy in the field. A quality all-round package.
love it when this thread gets bumped, lol. yeah his s/r and average are still holding up which is great.
not to worried about his varieties, he has a slider, and he just returned after a back spasm, would definitely not rip his googly straight away. ive seen him bowl it against zim and it does spin a bit more than the last game.
as long as he maintains control, and rips his leggie will always pick up wickets, think the only place hed struggle is in india, but pak not likely to play much test cricket against them any time soon.
Yeah we all love stroking your ego...
next time we would take an opinion from u as regards domestic players!!
Agreed with @Wistful Reminisces.
